I bought the HP Scanjet 3500c 2 weeks ago (Christmas 2002) and found it did a great job scanning black and white drawings.

The Scanjet driver software looks very similar to the HP Scanjet II software but the implementation of this "modern" release made using the scanner slow and a chore both via the TWAIN interface or the included HP software. This software was obviously thrown over the wall and into production without any thought to making life easy for the user.

The major problem with the software is how it will automatically crop black and white (BW) documents incorrectly. I had to hand reset each page after a preview or I'll end up cutting off the upper margin of the page and scanning the cover on the bottom. Yes HP, the auto-crop check box is unchecked.

I scan mostly BW documents. I want to set the scanner to scan 8.5x11 every time and simply can't. I have to manually reset the scan area EVERY page. So the software is half baked but at least it didn't crash. I would have kept the scanner if that was the only problem I could report.

I was playing around with different originals and stumbled across a serious problem when scanning originals at 600 or greater. The RED color channel is stuck "on" 100%. This causes the photos to have a serious reddish hue to them (or BW scans using the RED channel to be all white). This only happens when the resolution is set at 600 or greater. Is this a HP hardware or a HP driver problem? I don't know but it's serious. The HP web site is no help and has not updated the 3500c drivers in the 4 months since release v1.0 was chucked out the door.

The software annoyances, red channel problem, and 90 day warranty made me decide not to chance exchanging the scanner for another HP an being left hanging after 90 days while other manufacture's backup their products for a full year.

I returned the scanner and will not purchase anything HP (to include Compaq now that they've merged with HP) that has to do with PC's (I was witness to a bad HP Pavilion computer experience 4 years ago) or photo imaging. Somewhere between the Scanjet II and today HP made their software harder to use, is content to ship products rushed to market, and reduced their warranty to 90 days.

We didn't have a lot of money but wanted a good little machine.
This Hp scanner did the trick.
It's nice looking and performs well.
Our scanning needs are not to aggresive.
But we do use it a lot for pictures and record keeping.
It's worth the price for the average PC user.

I pulled this baby out of the box, put the CD in my computer, followed instructions on the screen and within 10 minutes I was scanning pictures. You want to talk about a BAAAAD scanner, talk about Microtek's: HP Scanjet rocks! Quality was great, the Scanning interface that pulls up when you do "Import..." in Adobe Photoshop was very nice and intuitive. All in all, if you have never scanned images in your life, or if you're an expert for all matters and purposes, this is a great bang for your buck. Happy scanning!

There are many horror stories of people trying to get their wireless adapters working with Windows 7 64 bit, this is one of those stories, but with a happy ending, eventually. I was looking for a new wireless adapter for my wife's computer, as the old one suddenly stopped working one day. It would sometimes resurrect itself like some little zombie, but would eventually return to it's grave, one time finally for good. Upon inspecting the fallen soldier I noticed some teeth marks in the plastic body. I believe that one of our cats had decided it to a chew toy. Hmmm. My wife's computer uses Windows 7 64 bit for it's OS. Having finally found an adapter that was receiving reviews of actually working with said operating system, I was willing to give it whirl since the price was right. Many devices on the market, wireless adapters in particular, "claim" to work with Windows 7, but upon further inspection they are only "compatible" or worse yet, just outright lying to your face that it'll work. The adapter finally arrives in the mail! Some reviewers claimed that you didn't need to use the install CD, just plug that little puppy into the usb port and it'll be right as rain. While I wanted to believe that, I used the CD anyhow. Didn't work. Make sure I read them right, for a Windows 7 install, didn't work. Checked the box the adapter came in, I don't see Windows 7 listed on the outside of the box; Windows 2000, XP and Vista but no Windows 7 listed on the box. Went back to instructions again. Yep, right there, they do say Windows 7 in the instructions, don't say if it's 32 or 64 bit, but Windows 7 none-the-less. I tried numerous ways of installing it, including several ways listed by other reviewers. Nothing was working. But when I checked the status of the device I did see that it was receiving some packets from the router, but that was about it. How could all of those other reviewers be wrong, especially the ones saying it working on their computer using Windows 7 64 bit? Maybe they wrong, maybe they thought they had 64 bit, but it was really 32 bit. Suddenly a little light went on over my head. Maybe it was a software conflict of some sort that was puking the install. I did an uninstall of the software, ensured it was removed from the device manager and rebooted the computer in "safe mode". Once I was logged on in safe mode, I "plugged the wireless adapter into the usb port" BEFORE installing the software. The software was installing, and I could see the USB light flickering like crazy and my hopes were high. Hmmm, why isn't the install finishing up? I waited and waited but the install seemed to be hung. Noooooo! I ended up aborting the install via task manager, but it must have been at a point where it was really done, but just couldn't finish up for some reason, as the wireless software was working fine now and I was able to connect to my router! Yipeee! Did another re-boot to get out of safe mode, and it still works just fine. Hope this helps someone else.

I purchased this adapter with high hopes that it would somehow magically work with my Western Digital WD TV Live, despite my knowing that it was an unrealistic expectation since the dongle comes with it's own drivers. At best, I was expecting to have to run some home-brewed firmware on the WD TV in order to get this to work.
Lo and behold, I plugged it in and it was recognized within seconds. In under a minute, the box was connected to my network and I was streaming YouTube video to my upstairs bedroom. I was absolutely amazed.

This dongle is not yet listed on WD TV Live's supported device list, and I've found no previous posts or reviews confirming this compatibility. Hope this helps those looking at this for the same reason that I was.

I own a computer that utilizes Windows Vista (64 bit) and was not having success installing wireless adapters from two reputable companies. At this point I was ready to cut open walls and run the ethernet cable to my computer. I mentioned the problem to my computer geek cousin and he told me to purchase a medialink wireless adapter as it supports Windows Vista 32 and 64. So I googled the wireless adapter and found that Amazon carried it. So I went to Amazon.com and there it was in the medialink adapter's product information, compatible with Vista 32 and 64. At $29.99 ( $10.00 cheaper then the previous two adapters), I thought it was worth the risk. I recieved it two days later and proceeded to install the medialink wireless G USB adapter and again no success. At this point I'm ready to punch a hole in the wall out of frustration. I finally decided to contact Mediabridge to convey my dissatisfaction. The phone was picked up after one ring and a customer service person rerouted me to technical support. Technical support picked up after one ring and I'm thinking to myself, this is amazing, no machine telling me to push buttons. After running several test on my computer with technical support, I still was not wireless. The tech support person, who was professional and knowledgable, recommended trying their wireless-N USB adapter. He said Mediabridge will ship it out right away at no cost. I received the wireless-N adapter the following day (again,amazing). I install it and within five minutes I was wireless. The installation was a snap. I'm on the internet several hours a day and I haven't had any problems at all. I forget sometimes that I'm wireless. At the price Mediabridge is charging for their wireless adapters, this is a steal. Kudos to Mediabridge for backing their products and lowering my blood pressure. I recommend this product to anyone who wants a quality wireless adapter at a great price.

I purchased Netgear's RangeMax Wireless Router (WPN824) and two RangeMax Wireless PCI Adapters (WPN311). After reading the reviews here, I knew to install the software first and then the hardware. It worked without a hitch! I've never setup a wireless network before, but I had this one up and running in minutes.

My furthest PC from the router, is about 150' away, on another floor in the basement. My connection to the router is always between 95% to 100%. Not a single problem in the month I've been using it.

I brought this product less than a month ago, but I didnt get around to installing it (had 2 other working computers). Finally, last night I installed the card following the instructions and tied it in to my router. Received a good reading that everything was set up fine, but could not connect to the internet. I called tech support (24/7) and after giving then the SN# and model#, I was told that this card is 3 years old, and I should take it back to the store for and updated model or upgrade the firmware. Hence I went with the firmware and it worked perfectly. Bestbuy needs to update their products.

I just have to smile at some of the terrible information some people, who havemn't really read the instruction and don't really know what they are doing with this card.

The BIGGEST thing to kmnow about this great card is NOT TO INSTALL IT UNTIL YOU INSTALL THE NETGEAR SOFTWARE ! This is with XP P2 home.

Read the instructions.
Don't mess with the Windows software at all. Remember that Rangemax, like all "Extended G" formats aer proprietary, and thefore, alwayas use the Netgard software.

1. Put the CD in and install software.

2. Do a shutdown.

3. Install the PCI Rangemax Adapter - WPN311.

4. Bring the system back up.

5. The sofware will immediately greet you after XP comes up. Then go through selecting the wireless router to connect to. Make sure the settings are coordinated with the router. Always a goo idea to have some security on it,like encryption, that would have to be initiated from the Router.

6. To maximize the use of the "Rangmax" features of the adaptor card, make sure that you have purchased a Netgear Rangemax router to take advantage of the Rangemax "enhanced G" features.
I have a Netgear RangeMax Wireless Router (WPN824)and it is working great with the Netgear Rangmaz adapters.

7. I am purchasing another adapter, but I can tell you the two I have, are connected to XP SP 2 PCs that are on another floor, at two ends of the room downstairs and they are runing at a solod 108mbs. I have noot have to restart the router or the adapters.

No more cables. I personally am right next to the router and my Cable modem, so I am connected to one of the four ethernet ports, and my connection works smoother and faster than my Linksys Ethernet router I was using before.

No need for signal enhancers, additional anthing.

FOLLOW THE DIRECTION, LITTERALLY AND REMEMBER TO LOAD THE CD AND NETGEAR SOFTWARE FIRST, BEFORE INSTALLING THE PCI CARD.

I learned that the hard way, although it was higlighted in the documentation.

I have been very impressed with the English Standard Version since its publication in 2001. Of the multitude of English translations of Scripture available, it may well be the best combination of accuracy, readability, and literary quality. Up until now, the one major disappointment, as many other reviewers have noted, has been the rather poor quality of publications in which it was available.

WIth this new edition of the Classic Reference Bible, it appears that Crossway has finally achieved the goal of providing a high quality ESV Bible. While the text, references, footnotes, maps, and concordance are identical to the already published Classic Reference Bible, there are, in my opinion, three unique improvements in this edition that commend it to anyone who loves and prefers this wonderful translation:

(1) The print type is larger, a 10.5 size (vs 9.5 in the original Classic Reference), which makes it easier to read. This is especially true with regards to the references and footnotes, which were practically illegible to my 40+ year old eyes.

(2) The wider margins allow notetaking, a real plus.

(3) While I don't claim to be a binding expert, it does appear that the binding used (at least on the genuine leather edition) is of a higher quality than on the original edition, which is a much needed improvement.

In summary, I would commend this edition of the ESV without qualification, unlike the earlier editions.

ESV Thinline Bible (TruTone, Charcoal, Crown Design) Review by Scott Socolofsky

Other reviewers complained that there are no chapter links. I'm not sure if it is new, but the version I downloaded recently has both book and chapter links. At the main table of contents, there are links to all the books of the Bible in a single list. Once you select a book, the first page of each book has links to all the chapters in that book. It works really well that way. I can find any verse in three clicks. And the whole Bible is searchable. That along with the ESV translation means a great addition to any Kindle.

ESV Thinline Bible (TruTone, Charcoal, Crown Design) Review by Paul M. Dubuc (Columbus, OH USA)

I enjoyed reading the RSV for many years but was disappointed with the NRSV for its lack of consitency and its awkward implementation of "inclusive language". The ESV is a very well done updating of the RSV. It retains the literalness, accuracy and eloquence of the RSV while updating the language to modern usage. It takes a more consistent and sensible (in my opinion) aproach to inclusive language. I always found the NIV language to be too simplified and the NASB too rigid. The ESV reads beautifully (even better than the NKJV) and has become my preferred translation over the many I have tried. Finally, a suitable replacement for my old, beloved RSV. I was also glad to see that this edition does not have a red letter New Testament. Somtimes its hard to find a nice bible that isn't red letter.

This black genuine leather bound edition seems to be very durable. The gold-edged paper is strong and thick enough so that the printing on the reverse side of a page doesn't bleed through much. It has wide margins and the print is easy to read. I expect (and hope) it will last for many years of daily reading. It comes with pretty good CD-ROM software that lets you quickly look up passages on the computer (It would be nice if there were a Mac version instead of just Windows) and cut & paste them into a word processor.

Bought it, didn't like it. returned it in a heart beat.
- material not supple enough, too hard, too cheap
- case too big causing too much movement
- cut-outs did not match correctly for the camera or the main button
- fold up too vertical (unlike the ones for the Acer Iconia and/or iPad both which i've owned prior) and easily comes out

For the price, i'd add another 20 and get me the authentic HP case. Done. Thanks

This case does its job - protecting my HP TouchPad. It has all the right holes for important access (volume, camera, headphones, charger). It's made of nice material and makes the TouchPad feel more solid.

I wish it fit around the Touchpad a little tighter. When in landscape orientation, it can slide a bit.

Other than that, it's a great value case. I'd definitely recommend getting this case for your TouchPad - it will help protect it from damages and your fingerprints.

The first thing you would notice, if you made the mistake of buying this item, is that everything feels cheap. The packaging. The modem. Even the transformer. They were so cheap in the production of this product that they supply an ethernet cable with only two pairs of wire. While it's technically true that you only need those four pins (1/2 and 3/6) for regular networking, it's a trivial cost savings not to have the other two pairs. I should have known immediately when seeing that cable that this product was trouble.

Pros: The LEDs light up.

Cons: Device was braindead on arrival. I could not communicate with it when plugging directly from my computer to the modem. Worse, it seriously damaged my computer's motherboard. The router was unable to PPPoE through the bridge this modem supposedly makes. I wouldn't buy another Zoom product again. I wouldn't take them for free.

As an IT professional maintaining a medium-sized university network, I have a lot of experience with this sort of equipment. This is junk. Don't waste your money.

I purchased this modem when signing up for my CenturyLink service in Wisconsin; once receiving it, I went step by step through the owners manual PDF trying to gain access to the modem through the ethernet port to change settings since the modem would not auto-detect my ADSL line as specified. Changed my TCP/IP settings and tried to get in through 192.168.1.1 in both IE and Firefox and every time my action would time out with no response from the modem (other than the ethernet light blinking *claiming to be speaking with my PC*).

I am very unhappy with this product and I am warning all future purchasers to stay away from Zoom's bridges as you will not be able to configure them.

We bought this modem to replace the previous model zoom bridge modem (model# 5615) that got hit by lightning. All I had to do is plug it into the power, DSL line, and my Linksys wireless router. It automatically detected my Bellsouth/AT&T settings and with bridged mode enabled on the router internet was up and running within two minutes.
